Full Board Meeting

Full Board MeetingThe Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council Board will convene a second meeting this month in order to weigh in on two very important issues. In both cases the items agendized are up for presentation, discussion and action.

The first is the PLUM Committee’s recommendations on the DS Ventures project that is planned for the 6.2 acres between Mulholland Drive and San Feliciano Drive. This project has been the subject of great debate with passion arguments presented in favor and in opposition to the development. The project is due to go before the City on February 5th for a hearing so it is important for the community to be represented in the deliberations.

The second is a Measure B presentation with speakers presenting the “Green Energy and Good Jobs” ballot measure and opponents to the ballot measure debating them. Proponents argue that the ballot measure would require the DWP to pursue an aggressive solar energy plan that would generate significant energy using DWP labor to install DWP owned solar equipment on City rooftops. Opponents argue that the plan contains no financial research, offers an exclusive labor contract, locks the ratepayer into unspecified rate increases, modifies the City Charter and that the entire process excluded the community. Phew!

One thing is for certain and that is that everybody seems to agree that it is essential that the City of Los Angeles pursue a renewable energy campaign and that the ratepayer be offered some guarantee of participation in the process.

Join us for an exciting evening of civic engagement!
