Voit, the developer behind the Warner Center Plaza and the Warner Center Business Park, addressed the tension between the area’s suburban legacy and its urban ambitions by arguing Warner Center should be bigger and denser. “It’s the wave of the future” he tells the Daily News.
It’s interesting to note that one of Voit’s regrets is that there wasn’t more collaboration with the community. This is especially significant in light of the current environment where the community stakeholders are more than simply engaged, they are taking the lead on establishing and maintaining collaborative efforts.
Through it all, it’s evident that as much as things change, they stay the same. The debate then was over density and traffic and how to create a livable, walkable and prosperous environment with a vibrant energy and sense of community. The debate now is even more focused and the stakes are even greater.
