Deputy Chief Moore to Visit WHWCNC Public Safety Committee

The WHWCNC Public Safety Committee takes on the proposed speed limit increases with special guests Deputy Chief Michel Moore, Councilman Dennis Zine and LADOT GM Rita Robinson in a roundtable discussion that includes speed limit enforcement, speed zone surveys and traffic calming techniques. 

Measure B Debate Heats Up!

On Tuesday, March 3, 2009, qualified voters will take to the polls where they will have the opportunity to vote for the Mayor, the City Attorney, the City Controller and Councilmembers for Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15. Also on the ballot will be five proposed measures referred to as Measures A, B, C, D, & E.

29 Lot Development Proposed for “Oaks Savanna” Community

DS Ventures has proposed a 29 lot subdivision on a 6.2 acre area between San Feliciano Drive and Mulholland Highway at the south edge of Woodland Hills.

Opposition to the project comes from the area residents who object to the small size of the lots, the large number of lots, the traffic that would result from the development, the removal of the protected Oak and California Black Walnut trees and the resulting encroachment on the view shed.

Full Board Meeting

The Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council Board will convene a second meeting this month in order to weigh in on two very important issues. In both cases the items agendized are up for presentation, discussion and action.

Speed Limit Decision Held Up for NC Input

The City Council’s Transportation Committee put the brakes on the LADOT’s proposed West Valley speed limit increases, directing the LADOT to allow the Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council (WHWCNC) the opportunity to weigh in on the Corbin Ave., Fallbrook Ave., and Mulholland Drive surveys. Public opposition to the five proposed speed limit increases included several different objections but it was the simple complaint of flawed civic engagement, of ineffective outreach, of a year long journey without public participation that resonated most. The Committee resolved the issue by deferring City Council action until after the community and the LADOT take the proposals to the public. 

Warner Center Specific Plan Presentation

The City Planning Department and the Urban Design Team will be presenting their recommendations for the New Warner Center Specific Plan. This is one of the most significant opportunities for the community to partner with the City in developing long range plans and standards for land use, design and transportation. 

Planning, Land Use & Mobility Committee

The committee will review the DS Ventures Project planned for the 6.2 acres between Mulholland Drive and San Feliciano Drive. The committee will be making a recommendation to the Full Board which will then convene in a SPECIAL Meeting on January 29, 2009 for a final vote. The Project then goes to a public hearing on February 5th at the Marvin Braude Center at 10:00 am.  

Speed Limit Increases Move to Transportation Committee

On Wednesday, January 14, at 2pm in City Hall,
the City Council’s Transportation Committee will convene with an agenda that includes proposed speed limit increases for several streets in the West Valley.

The proposed speed limit increases were scheduled three times in the Transportation Commission before they finally passed in the last session of 2008. The LADOT, in an effort that shows commitment and enthusiasm, has one last stop before the Transportation Committee, chaired by Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, and then the ordinance revisions go to the full Council.
