Daily News and LATimes Collect Award Winning Potholes

Both the Daily News and the LATimes have set out to collect data from readers on potholes throughout the City of Los Angeles.

The LATimes is conducting a Pothole of the Week Contest in which columnist Steve Hymon posts the winning blogs and then follows the pothole through the repair process. (more…)

The Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council has been having such a great time hosting the Concerts in the Park this year that they have decided to conduct their July Board Meeting in the Lou Bredlow Pavilion in Warner Park in Woodland Hills.

Join the Board, bring your friends and neighbors on Wednesday, July 9th at 6:30 as the Department of City Planning gives a presentation on the upcoming Zoning Code Reforms.

Celebrate July 4th! Free Concert and Fireworks!

Councilman Dennis Zine and Neighborhood Council Chair Joyce Pearson invite the community to celebrate the 4th of July at Warner Center Park with Zine’s Annual Fireworks Extravaganza!

The 100 piece Los Angeles Pierce Symphonic Winds will provide the music for this patriotic evening featuring the many talented educators contributing to the band’s continued success.

“Great Streets” is the theme for Aug 16th “Panel of Visionaries”

The Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council’s next Community Forum will feature a “Panel of Visionaries” offering different perspectives and philosophies on what make a Great Street.

Proponents of Green Streets, Complete Streets, Shared Streets and the all-inclusive Great Streets will challenge your imagination and offer examples of community’s that went from simple public space to Dignified Human Space, all by addressing the street dedication and by putting a priority on providing for people instead of simply moving automobiles.

Warner Center Specific Plan Update Underway

Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council Chair Joyce Pearson took to the stage at the recent “Panel of Visionaries” Community Forum and announced to the community that the Warner Center Specific Plan Update process was officially underway. Urban Planner Pat Smith took to the stage and invited the neighborhood to join the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, the City of Los Angeles Leadership and The City Department of Planning in a community design process that is inclusive and designed to incorporate the vision and inspiration of all participants.

Hazardous Waste Collection Event – 2 days only!

The Department of Public Works is conducting a hazardous waste and computer/electronic equipment collection event on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Pierce College. (Victory Blvd. & Mason Ave. – Parking Lot #4)

Now is the time to clean out the garage, the basement, the closets and to look for the hazards that so often are taken for granted. Take a look around your home and look under the sinks.

Warner Center Association Hires Urban Planner

The Warner Center Association has hired Walkability Expert Deborah Murphy to guide them through the upcoming Warner Center Specific Plan Update process and to assist in educating Association members on mixed-use, pedestrian orientation and urban design issues and to help coalesce the diverse interests of the membership.

Woodland Hills “Panel of Visionaries” Draws SRO Crowd

The Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council took on the tough topics at Saturday’s Community Forum “The Destiny of the West Valley.”

Over 300 people went standing room only at Kaiser’s Auditorium as the ”panel of visionaries” challenged the community to think about what makes a great neighborhood, one with walkable streets, complete and effective mass transit, park-once concepts, circulators and people movers, sustainable infrastructure, simply…GREATNESS! “The Destiny of the West Valley”

Community Forum

The Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council takes on the tough topics at the June 21 Community Forum “The Destiny of the West Valley.”

The forum will be held at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital Auditorium from 8:00 am to 11:30 am and includes complimentary breakfast.

The public is invited to join a panel of visionaries in confronting the issues and opportunities that challenge our neighborhood including traffic congestion, urban design, water reclamation, energy conservation, mass transit, accessibility, mobility, walkability and livability.
