The City of Los Angeles is currently in the process of updating the Housing Element of the City’s General Plan. The Housing Element is referred to as “the blueprint for meeting the City’s housing needs and guiding where housing will be built across the City’s neighborhoods.”
California state law requires every city and county within California to prepare and adopt a long-term comprehensive GENERAL PLAN for its future development. Within that General Plan there are 7 mandatory Elements, one of which is the Housing Element.
